Newark is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Newark is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New Jersey's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Food is very good and fresh. However, as I arrived on 7/28/26 at about 4:20pm, the only counter person was on a personal call and would not hang up the phone as I was (not so) patiently waiting. I gave up. If I ever act the same towards my clients - totally dismissive towards them and with this kind of attitude - my business will definitely flunk. Be careful with the employees you choose. They can make or break your business.

This place is located adjacent to Penn Station Newark, right across the street, and can be accessed through an above ground gateway (so you are completely under cover for the entire journey). So, the location is prime if you are in need of waiting for a train. There are seating areas in the restaurant ... as well as a lobby area just a few feet away. And it is relatively quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of the train station. On to the food ... quite good. I went for the Chicken Gyro. I happen to get it as it was freshly carved off the spit. Yum! I paired it with some fries and a soda. Exactly what I wanted. And then, as mentioned previously, a comfortable place to sit and wait for my train.

After Indian, Mediterranean is my second favorite cuisine. What a crazy traffic it was… it actually took me 65 minutes to reach there. And of course, finding parking right in front of Penn Station? I guess I can find God more easily than a parking spot there… I ended up keeping my car on standby β€” luckily, the guard at the door didn’t mind. I originally planned to dine in, but the parking situation made me pack my food instead. Coming to the food β€” the place is on the 2nd floor of the building, with really nice dΓ©cor and ambience. I honestly wish I could have sat down to enjoy my meal there. I ordered the Chicken & Salmon Bowl with fries on the side. the food was awesome! The salmon was the absolute showstopper β€” perfectly cooked and topped with olives, feta, tzatziki, TGP sauce, Greek slaw, and more. The chicken was good too, but the salmon definitely stole the show. I just wish they had an outlet in Morris County too… all their locations are a bit too far!

I tried Gyro Project’s Newark location yesterday. First I will share about food- we love Greek food snd Gyro Project has great options if you want wrap, bowl or salad snd many other lighter options too like dips/pita, bakery items etc. I got the bowl, pita wrap and few other items. The food tasted delicious and fresh. But, I left with such a bad experience from the staff/manager. The service sucks. The way they talked or behaved is just uncalled for. I was very disappointed. Either they need training as to how to serve people or they should be let go. Btw we have tried Gyro Project in Fort Lee before this location opened up, the staff was beyond amazing both times at Fort Lee. Unfortunately, I would not be going to Newark location. Not worth my time and money. 3 stars are only for the food.

Located in the walkway of the Gateway Center, the Greek version of Chipotle or Qdoba, same concept of pick your protein, pick your veggies, pick your sauces, good stuff, helpful staff, canned Coke products. (Salmon was extra $, but staff let me know as soon as I asked for it)
